Synopsis

“Leave the Earth with the Stars” is a story about Phoppat, a young man who has suffered great losses. He lost his parents, his wife, and his children, all because of one person, Sarin. Phoppat is determined to find the evidence he needs to prove Sarin’s wrongdoing, but he has to be patient. To get close to Sarin, he pretends to be a good son-in-law and helps Sarin succeed in her career, all while keeping his real intentions hidden.

Phoppat never expected to find happiness again, but Matimon’s smile and cheerful personality bring him back to life. However, he’s worried about Matimon’s safety because of Sarin’s threats, so he tries to push her away.

But the more he tries to stay away from Matimon, the closer they become. Despite the danger all around, Matimon remains fearless and always helps and cares for Phoppat.

To put an end to this dangerous situation, Phoppat is willing to risk his life to catch Sarin. He wants to ensure a brighter future for Matimon, whether he survives or not.

Matimon, a woman in her thirties, faces major changes in her life. She breaks up with her boyfriend, Eric, after years of dating due to his infidelity. Additionally, Budsaya, the owner of the building she rents, announces the sale of all seven units to move into a senior care facility. Matimon, who rents three units for her tutoring institute, desires the middle unit due to its prime location on the main road, believing it would greatly benefit her business. However, this puts her in competition with Phoppat, a restaurant and cafe owner who rents the other three units and also wants the middle unit.

Budsaya decides to sell the building to the person who offers the best conditions, not solely based on money. She gives both Matimon and Phoppat time to prepare their proposals.

Matimon discusses this with her mother, Aratee, who happens to have a meeting with Pongpon and Sarin at Phoppat’s restaurant. Aratee takes the opportunity to talk to Phoppat and invites him to work with her, admiring his skills. Despite knowing the chances are slim due to the fact that Phoppat is Sarin’s son-in-law and they have been close since their fathers’ generation, with Sarin taking good care of Phoppat after he lost his parents.

Phoppat responds tactfully, and when Aratee asks for his cooperation in the building purchase, he declines and teases Matimon for still relying on her mother for help. Matimon, who already has insecurities about this, gets into an argument with him. However, they eventually have to work together to find Budsaya’s cat, Fifi, who has gone missing. While searching for Fifi, Phoppat discovers a listening device on the roof of Matimon’s building. He informs Thanik, Matimon’s cousin, and they devise a plan to handle the situation.

While the building issue was still unresolved, Matimon received more bad news: her parents were getting a divorce. Her father planned to return to England, and her mother intended to take over his political career. Unable to cope, Matimon left home for her tutoring school, coinciding with Phoppat’s plan to catch the person who had placed a listening device on Matimon’s rooftop. Phoppat noticed Matimon and had to intervene, leading to a confrontation with the culprit, who managed to escape. Phoppat distracted Matimon by assuring her he would handle the situation, and Matimon, preoccupied with her parents’ divorce, didn’t press the issue.

Phoppat was attacked by the culprit, prompting Matimon to care for him. Since Phoppat’s restaurant had wine, Matimon drank and confided her problems to him. Phoppat shared his own parents’ story to show Matimon that her problems were relatively minor, suggesting she was too immature to understand and let go of the concept of parents.

That night, Matimon got drunk and ended up sleeping in Phoppat’s room. Upon waking, she rushed out in a fluster, encountering his employees who had already arrived for work. This led to misunderstandings about their relationship. Thanik picked Matimon up, and she stayed at his house for another day before coming to terms with the situation and returning home to talk to her father. She learned about his depression and realized that both her parents deserved their own happiness after raising her and providing for her for many years. From her perspective, they were ending things amicably: her father could leave politics, which he never enjoyed, and return to a happy life in England, while her mother could pursue her long-desired political career. Everyone would have their own lives, including Matimon herself.

Later, Matimon went on a vacation at Veethra’s house. She met Phoppat on the way and, by chance, had an accident. Phoppat’s dashcam captured the incident, and when Aratee saw the footage, she was immediately certain that it wasn’t an ordinary accident. However, both Aratee and Phoppat agreed not to tell Matimon about this.

Matimon wanted to get to know Phoppat better, so she investigated his background and discovered a tragic event: his wife, Anchisa, and two-month-old son, Arpoe had died in a car accident caused by his wife’s drunk driving. Matimon recalled another incident where Phoppat’s parents had also died due to a drunk driver. After talking to her mother, Matimon learned that Aratee was looking into Sarin and found that most people who crossed him had suffered accidents involving alcohol. When Matimon mentioned this to Phoppat, he defended Sarin, claiming Sarin was a good person who wouldn’t do such things. He also warned Matimon not to spread rumors that could endanger her and her mother.

Matimon sensed something odd about Phoppat and Thanik’s behavior. One evening, Thanik picked her up from work early and said he would wait at Phoppat’s restaurant. Matimon devised a plan to leave her purse with Thanik, using the office phone to call her mobile and leaving the line open. This way, she discovered that Phoppat and Thanik already suspected Sarin and that he might even be connected to the accident that killed Thanik’s parents.

Finally, Thanik revealed the truth. He suspected that his parents’ death wasn’t an accident. He remembered his father arguing with someone on the phone before rushing out. His father hadn’t been drinking, although there was a window of time where he could have gotten alcohol on the way. However, his father never drank when his mother was around. Thanik knew that the last call his father made was to someone named “S.” He secretly called the number but only knew that the recipient was a man, not who it was.

After the accident, when he got his father’s phone, the information was gone. The paper he had written the number down was in his pants pocket, which the housekeeper had washed. Ten years later, he heard Sarin give an interview using the same words that Thanik had heard, in the same voice, confirming that Sarin was the last person his father spoke to. Thanik followed this lead and eventually met Phoppat.

Both Phoppat and Thanik were investigating Sarin, suspecting foul play in their parents’ deaths. Phoppat continued working with Sarin to uncover who was doing his dirty work. The restaurant he opened provided a way to gather evidence of Sarin’s corruption. Matimon wanted to help, but Phoppat warned her that Sarin was a dangerous man who wouldn’t hesitate if he suspected anyone, following the motto: “Better to kill the wrong person than let the wrong person go free.”

Sarin held a birthday party, and Matimon took the opportunity to attend with her mother. There, she met Panalee, a 24-year-old intern working with Sarin who seemed close to Phoppat. This prompted Matimon to openly express her feelings for Phoppat. Panalee, in return for this, asked to borrow Phoppat’s car, and Phoppat agreed, handing her the keys.

When the chance arose, Matimon sneaked into Sarin’s office to search for information. Sarin was about to catch her, but Phoppat intervened just in time. Matimon then pulled Phoppat into a kiss to create the illusion that they were hiding away for a romantic moment. Sarin recognized Matimon as Aratee’s daughter and, having heard from his sources that Phoppat and Matimon might have feelings for each other, saw an opportunity to use this to his advantage and retreated.

Phoppat scolded Matimon for her foolish actions, saying that if Sarin had kept the information at home, he would have already found it. Matimon argued back, claiming that everything that happened was for the best, including the kiss.

Later, Phoppat learned that Panalee was investigating Aratee, including matters related to Matimon and Thanik. He advised her that if she truly wanted a career in politics, she shouldn’t stay with Sarin. Panalee felt Phoppat was sincere and reciprocated by revealing that Sarin had placed a tracking device on Phoppat’s car, which she had done herself while borrowing it.

Matimon, upon learning about the tracking device, suggested that Phoppat drop her off at home to make their supposed relationship seem more convincing. Phoppat decided to follow through and witnessed Aratee meeting with Pongpon, the leader of Sarin’s party. Phoppat had always assumed that Pongpon fully supported Sarin as the prime ministerial candidate, but it turned out that Pongpon was also preparing to eliminate Sarin due to his excessive baggage.

Aratee spoke with Phoppat and asked to work together to eliminate Sarin. However, Phoppat didn’t just want to remove Sarin from the political scene or have him arrested for corruption; he wanted him arrested for murder. Aratee offered to provide evidence of the murder if Phoppat would provide other evidence. Phoppat didn’t respond, and Aratee didn’t pressure him, confident that he would eventually cooperate. Her final request was that Matimon not be harmed by this.

Phoppat began distancing himself from Matimon, but she refused to let him go, constantly following him because she had overheard her mother’s warning. On the anniversary of the death of Phoppat’s wife and child, Matimon waited for him at the building. By the time he returned, it was already dark. Phoppat was in pain and vulnerable, so he couldn’t refuse Matimon’s comfort and allowed her to hug him. However, he still stubbornly denied having feelings for her. Matimon then kissed him, and Phoppat instinctively kissed back. Matimon pointed out that he had never rejected her kisses and that someone like him would definitely refuse if he didn’t have feelings for her.

Matimon promised not to act recklessly again and then revealed that she had been researching the people she believed were Sarin’s victims, connecting how they had crossed paths with him and what they had in common. Phoppat decided to arrange a meeting between Aratee and Thanik, ensuring that the security cameras wouldn’t record to prevent evidence collection, and they all gathered at his place.

Thanik confessed to Aratee that Sarin was involved in his parents’ deaths. This prompted Phoppat to reveal that Budsaya was also Sarin’s victim. She had been investigating Sarin for a long time and built the building to provide Phoppat with a safe space to gather evidence against him. Coincidentally, Thanik’s investigation into his parents’ deaths led him to Phoppat. Thanik then opened his studio in Budsaya’s building and brought Matimon to open her institute here as well, hoping to keep her close and safe.

Now the only thing to find was the person who did Sarin’s dirty work, whom Phoppat had been trying to track down for two years, ever since Anchisa’s accident, but to no avail. Matimon felt that the culprit in Phoppat’s parents’ case must be connected to all the accidents linked to Sarin, as they used the same method: car accidents involving alcohol. Phoppat had investigated but found nothing, and he had stayed close to Sarin all along in the hope of finding that person, but without success.

Aratee obtained a photo of the driver who caused Matimon’s accident and believed there was someone who could help find the culprit. Phoppat advised Aratee not to approach this person herself, as it would become a weakness for her political opponents to exploit if the matter leaked. The person who could help was Suwee, Veethra’s father, known for his involvement in various illegal activities.

Matimon volunteered to handle the matter through Veethra. She learned that the culprit had occasionally delivered drugs for Suwee’s men and had later changed his name to Yod. The reason no one could find him was that shortly after the incident with Anchisa, he was arrested for drug possession. Suwee believed it was intentional because Yod, who didn’t use drugs, wouldn’t typically carry such a small amount. It seemed he deliberately got himself arrested, making it even harder to track him down once he was in prison.

With Yod’s information, Matimon informed Phoppat and her mother. Phoppat diligently tried to find a link between Sarin and Yod but couldn’t.

However, Panalee, who was handling the accounting for Sarin’s Fung Fun Foundation, discovered irregularities with the cleaning company the foundation used. Believing this to be Sarin’s weakness, she called to investigate, which resulted in Sarin ordering her elimination. Fortunately, Thanik, who was following her, saved her in time. Phoppat instructed Thanik to take Panalee into hiding in another province.

Phoppat then collaborated with Aratee, making it appear as if he was secretly passing some documents to her. This was meant to provoke Sarin, who was already suspicious, into taking action. Soon after, Phoppat was involved in an accident. While he was still disoriented, someone forced alcohol into his mouth. Phoppat recognized the person as Yod and tricked him into confessing that he had killed people on Sarin’s orders.

When Yod realized that Phoppat wasn’t unconscious, he prepared to inject him with poison but was apprehended in time, as Phoppat had been under surveillance. The footage from the dashcam clearly captured all the evidence.

Aratee threatened Yod, who was in custody, by mentioning Suwee’s name. Yod had cheated Suwee out of money before going to prison, and out of fear of Suwee, he confessed everything, admitting to carrying out Sarin’s evil deeds.

The two had met in the military and were involved in an accident where they hit a motorcyclist. Yod poured alcohol into the victim’s mouth and placed a bottle nearby, allowing them to escape charges. Sarin noticed Yod’s expression as he poured the alcohol and watched the victim slowly die, realizing that this ruthlessness could be beneficial in the future. They agreed to act like strangers from then on, initially using a PO box to communicate. Later, when Sarin entered politics, he started a company to avoid surveillance and security cameras.

Sarin set up a paper company for Yod to serve as a financial channel and a means of communication. Yod’s company received money from the foundation that Sarin oversaw, making it impossible for anyone to see the connection between the two.

Sarin eliminated Phoppat’s parents because they had successfully developed a non-toxic cancer drug. Sarin wanted to sell it at a high price for profit, but Phoppat’s parents disagreed, wanting to make it affordable for patients.

Meanwhile, Sarin, who knew Thanik’s father through their shared gambling activities, mentioned his company that had acquired the drug patent. Thanik’s father, who had recently inherited a large sum of money and carried the burden of always being inferior to his older sister, Aratee decided to invest all his money in the hope of buying shares in the company. However, it turned out to be a scam by Sarin. Thanik’s father threatened to expose everything if Sarin didn’t return the money, which would ruin Sarin’s political career and land him in jail. Naturally, Sarin couldn’t let that happen.

Yod’s victims weren’t just Phoppat’s and Thanik’s parents, but also Anchisa. Phoppat was certain that Anchisa was a victim of his own father. When the incident first happened, Phoppat firmly insisted that Anchisa didn’t have postpartum depression and wouldn’t have driven drunk with their child. Even though he worked hard, he took good care of his wife and didn’t neglect her as Sarin believed, trying to console Phoppat that it wasn’t his fault.

Phoppat became suspicious because Sarin didn’t seem too bothered by his daughter’s death. Phoppat had previously mentioned investigating the matter, but he pretended to stop and accepted that Anchisa was indeed drunk driving.

Phoppat wanted to know why Sarin would kill his daughter and grandson. Taking advantage of Sarin’s unknown of the situation, Phoppat rushed home to confront him. Phoppat explained that he couldn’t help Sarin if Sarin didn’t tell the truth. If evidence or witnesses emerged, Phoppat would be in a difficult position.

Sarin fell for the bait but remained cautious, not revealing the whole truth. He claimed that he had eliminated Anchisa because she mistakenly believed that Sarin had ordered the murder of Phoppat’s parents and was about to tell Phoppat about it. Sarin was certain that if Phoppat knew, he wouldn’t stay silent, and Sarin’s future would be over. Sarin’s intention wasn’t to harm his grandson; it was an unfortunate coincidence. He didn’t think Anchisa would take her child on the trip. Additionally, when Sarin went to the baby’s room and saw the mobile above the crib spinning, he assumed the child was inside.

Sarin didn’t believe that Phoppat was truly grieving over Anchisa’s death. He assumed that Phoppat, like himself, married for personal gain. Sarin didn’t love Anyamanee, Anchisa’s mother, nor did he have much affection for Anchisa because she was a daughter, not a son who could be more useful to him.

Unbeknownst to them, Anyamanee, Anchisa’s mother and Sarin’s wife, overheard their entire conversation. Filled with rage and grief, she shot Sarin dead on the spot.

After that, Phoppat disappeared, and Matimon went to live with her father in England for three months. Aratee became the Prime Minister, and everything proceeded as if Phoppat and Matimon had never known each other. Budsaya sold the building in separate sections, selling the middle unit to Matimon. Panalee became the manager of Phoppat’s restaurant.

Phoppat moved into a house he had built near Pathawee and Veethra’s home, “Baan Fak Jai.” One day, Pathawee invited him for dinner, and Phoppat accepted without knowing that Matimon was also there.

Matimon questioned Phoppat about why he hadn’t committed to her. Phoppat was honest with Matimon, saying that he was afraid to love her because he didn’t know how his emotional scars might hurt her. He didn’t want to have children, didn’t want to be attached to anyone, and didn’t want to drag Matimon down with him. He still had nightmares about his child, and that would undoubtedly cause Matimon pain.

Matimon countered by saying that she could be happy anywhere as long as it was her own choice. She confessed that she missed him and had rushed back as soon as Veethra informed her that he was there. She then urged Phoppat to see her as a reward for enduring everything he had gone through.

Phoppat asked Matimon to be patient with him and to help pull him out of his misery, staying by his side no matter what. Matimon immediately agreed as this was what she had always wanted him to do.
